WCA Heads South!

Les Thatcher brings Wrestling Cares to Georgia

WCA’s resident wrestling legend, Les Thatcher holds another groundbreaking EPWT training camp in the rolling hills of beautiful Blue Ridge, GA.

This one-of-a-kind seminar saw WCA’s Les Thatcher team up with veteran wrestler and promoter “Lumberjack Woody” Greg Hullender to deliver an intense weekend of training to the talented, young wrestlers of Deep Southern Championship Wrestling (DSCW). Les stayed late after training camp to serve as guest booker for a fun Saturday night show featuring the students of the DSCW Academy.

Kyle Matthews, DSCW Main-Eventer and current Cauliflower Alley Club Future Legend award winner was on-hand to guide students through the rigorous paces of the EPWT training drills and offered pointers to the up-and-coming DSCW talents on how to improve their skills.

A surprise reward for all the blood, sweat, and exhaustion of the students was an unexpected visit from legendary referee Mac McMurray. Mac helped lighten the grind of the camp with hilarious jokes and fun stories about his time in Knoxville, Georgia, and the WWF.

The highlight of a great weekend for wrestling was the arrival of former WCW superstar Ray “Glacier” Lloyd who stopped by to talk with students about being a success at the highest levels of the industry and gave some great insights about his time with World Championship Wrestling.

Wrestling Cares was impressed with and inspired by the state-of-the-art training facility at Deep Southern Championship Wrestling. DSCW has the leading edge in preparing Georgia’s wrestling students with the proper foundations for success.

WCA has definitely expanded its reach because of Les Thatcher’s productive visit to DSCW. WCA is grateful to Lumberjack Woody and the dedicated young stars of DSCW for friendly hospitality and some great wrestling action.

Wrestling Cares is proud to have DSCW’s participation in the 2013 Race For The Ring and is anticipating the privilege of bringing premier athlete Kyle Matthews to L.A. to represent Deep Southern Championship Wrestling in the RFTR.
